Q: Who is the target audience for this material?
A: Seasoned NERC Certified System Operators and Reliability Coordinators needing continuation education (CE) hours as well as Power Engineering students and professionals looking for background on NERC Reliability Standards.

Q: What software do I need to have to view this material?
A: Adobe Acrobat Reader is necessary to view course content. You can download a free version of Acrobat Reader here.

Q: Can all material be used by Certificated System Operators to meet their CE requirements?

A: Yes.

Q: Can this material be taken for partial credit?
A: Yes. Partial credit may be obtained by taking any two hour section or a combination of sections totaling at least two hours. Test questions will be appropriate to those sections only.

Q: Can this material be used for Professional Development hours?
A: Yes, if your professional organization recognizes NERC Approved CE Providers.

Q: What is the class requirement for participation?

A: Classes may be taken together as an entire course (containing 5-9 individual classes) at a reduced cost per class or as partial credit individually by section as long as the minimum requirement of 2 credit hours is met. As an example, some classes are .75 credit hour and would need to be combined with another class to meet the minimum two hour requirement.

Q: How do I find the number of credit hours for a particular class?
A: CE Hours vary for each class and are listed under Browse Classes page prior to purchase.

Q: How is NERC certification awarded?
A: If you furnished a NERC Certification Number upon registration, your CEH will automatically be entered in to the NERC database once the class has been successfully completed. A temporary certificate can be printed from the site. Official NERC certification will be provided to the participant by the NERC CE Approved Provider Administrator along with a copy of the notification report to NERC within two weeks of completion. The certification will show the Class identification, completion date, location of the class taken as well as the name of the instructor and sponsor.

Q: How long will my records be maintained kept on file?
A: Course records will be maintained by the NERC Approved CE Provider/Sponsor for a minimum of three years.

Q: Why can't I enter the Class Syllabus after payment?
A: Participants are required to complete a Pre Test before entering the Class Syllabus.

Q: Why are there both Pre and Post Tests?
A: Pre and Post Tests (multiple choice, true false questions) insure comprehension and to demonstrate measurable retention.

Q: How many times can I take the Post Test?
A: Following review of class materials, the Post Test may be taken up to 3 times. You may take as long as you need to complete the test but remember to save your response after answering each question and before leaving the site or answers will not be retained.

Q: How many questions are on the Tests and will I have the same questions each time I take the test?
A: There are 8 randomly generated questions on each test. You must get 6 correct answers to pass; if not, you may take the test again up to three times. You will get the same questions however you will not know which questions were incorrect. You are locked out of course material during testing. If you do not pass the test after three attempts, you will need to buy the class again. More than likely, test questions will differ each time you purchase the course as they are randomly selected.

Q: How to I submit by test answers for grading?

A: When you are finished answering ALL questions, you may submit the test for grading using the button at the bottom of the page. You MAY NOT view any course materials while you are taking tests.

Q: What grade is required to successfully complete the class for credit hours?

A: 75% or above is required to successfully complete the class for credit hours.

Q: How can I provide feedback?
A: Course and instructor evaluation forms are provided at the conclusion of each class to solicit feedback and incorporate appropriate input toward improvement of the training objectives. You can also email us via the Customer Serice link on the Home Page.

Q: Am I required to complete the Learning Objectives / Additional Reading Material / Instructor Notes to pass the class?
A: No. Learning Objectives, Instructor Notes and Additional Reading Material are designed to help you prepare for the Post Test and have a better understanding of the Learning Activity (standards) presented in the Syllabus.

Q: What is random proctoring for credit validation?
A: After you pass the Post Test and have obtained a Certificate of Completion, proctoring will be done on a random basis by the NERC Approved CE Provider to validate class participation and credit. This involves a call within 7 days of test completion and failure to provide correct answers could result in revoking the CEH credit awarded.
